Matters of the Heart Non-Profit
Matters of the Heart is a non-profit organization founded by Kimberly and Dwayne Verner, born from a place of loss and hurt but existing to foster hope, healing, and positivity. The organization emerged from a tragedy: the passing of the Verners' 16-year-old son, Darion, on St. Patrick's Day 2017, due to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. The loss devastated their family of eight, and processing it was deeply challenging. However, the Verners chose to come together as a family to heal, reflect, and raise awareness through music and worship.

Dewayne & Kimberly Verner
Kimberly, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, proudly represents her roots and the legacy of Whitehaven High School, from which she graduated in 1995. Academically, Kimberly boasts a BA in Social Services from Belhaven University, coupled with an MEd in Adult Education specializing in education from Strayer University.
She is currently pursuing her second Master's in Clinical Counseling at Colorado Christian University.
On the personal front, Kimberly has been blessed with 22 years of marital bliss with her husband, Dwayne. Together, they have seven wonderful children: DJ, Jessica, Darion, Dorian, Daylon, Kearany, and Kamille. Their family stands as a testament to their deep love for each other and their unwavering faith in God.
